MONDAY MEMORIES # 9

It was shortly after 9 pm (Philippine time) September 11, 2001 and my eyes were tired from doing my cross stitching project so I tried closing my eyes to rest it for a while. I fell asleep for a few minutes and when I awakened, I saw this picture on tv. I thought it was movie so I closed my eyes again. After a few minutes later, when I stood up to go to the bathroom, I saw this same picture again being featured on tv. It was only then that I realized that it was a live coverage of CNN. I froze upon hearing the newscaster explaining what happened. Hubby was on an out of town asignment so I had nobody then to share my shock. When news of Pentagon and the other areas were also flashed on tv, I got out of the room to awaken my parents who were staying with me at that time then I proceeded to the living room where my daughter was. We stayed glued to the tv and we started a prayer vigil which our friends organized through phone brigade. Now 5 years later, this unforgettable scene still brings me the same pain in my heart.

Flight 93 is more real to me than the WTC. It went down about an hour from where I live. Chances are it flew right over my head that day.

My Hubby was an Airline Pilot before he retired. All the flights that day and their losses touched me in a way I cannot tell you.
I am so very thankful for his retirement now.
I pray today for all who lost their loved ones, and my hope is that the world will wake up and help to end this type of finatic terrorism.

It has been 5 years since that terrible tragedy but it still is just as vivid to me as it was on that day. I, too, was at home watching it on television...with so much shock, sadness, & tears.

    Thank you for remembering.

I live on the opposite coast but was still horrorstruck and disbelieving.

We were living a nightmare here and of course much more so in NYC.

I was on the other side of the world, seeing it on TV, horrified at what I was seeing. Like something out of a nightmare.
It's hard to believe it was 5 years ago ... seems like yesterday.
    Take care, Meow

Was a scary sight to see on TV, I can't imagine how horrible it would have been to actually be at the site....
