PHOTO HUNTER'S THEME FOR THE WEEK: ARCHITECTURE

This architectural structure is the University
of Santo Tomas
campus. It was established in 1611 under Spanish Friars after Dominican theologian, St. Thomas Aquinas. It is one of the world's largest Catholic universities in terms of population. It is located in Manila, Philippines.

    Not too long I posted on this photo blog a picture of the new church of St. Thomas Aquinas in Avondale Az.( http://joecoolspics.blogspot.com/2007/02/st-thomas-aquinas.html ) And today you show a university, very nice. Only thing I didn't like about this church is that the are not giving Spanish mass, how selfish of them.

    The Memorial Wall is made up of two black granite walls 246 feet 9 inches (75 meters) long, designed by Maya Ying Lin. The walls are sunk into the ground, with the earth behind them. At the highest tip (the apex where they meet), they are 10.1 feet (3 m) high, and they taper to a height of eight inches (20cm) at their extremities. Granite for the wall came from Bangalore, India and was deliberately chosen because of its reflective quality.

    I love the older looking universities. I am most fond of the gothic architecture for them but the Colonial look at William and Mary is nice too. Lovely picture.
