Theme of this week's Photo Hunter is SALTY

Here are my entries:

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

RED eggs are commonplace in Filipino meals, especially breakfast. This Filipino delicacy, popularly called itlog na maalat (salty egg), are cured in a brine solution or mixture of clay and salt for a couple of weeks to give them that salty-flavor, and finally hard boiled. Their shells are often dyed with red food coloring to distinguish them from chicken eggs.

Red eggs are usually paired with steamed rice, slices of tomatoes and salty dried fish.

Eww...eggs. I can't do eggs at all. The dried fish is a bit much for me as well.

    Good take on the theme.

Lots of protein there. So much salt might not be good for blood pressure though. ;-)

Well, that wouldn't be my ideal meal. :D But it's a great take on today's theme.

Great idea for salty. Those eggs sound good, but I too, can do without the fish. I'm not a lover of sea food, much to my husband's dismay, lol. Have a great weekend.

    Take care,

    Mmmmmm....now that looks yummy!!!

They look beautiful, but I'm not much of an egg person (apart from Cadbury's mini eggs of course). The salty fish sounds interesting though. We eat a lot of pickled herring in Sweden and that is very salty. And I love smoked mackerel. Hmm... now I think I know what to make for lunch :)

    Happy Saturday hunting

I always assumed that you would boil before salting. I assumed, also, that salting first would rot the eggs. Obviously not! Great info!

I don't mind the salted eggs, but the dried fish might get me. I prefer small pieces of fried fish, those are fine for breakfast.

I love that red eggs colors and would have loved to taste them. I love salty thing :-)

    Though the fish...hm... maybe? *s*

I don't think we have that kind of fishes over here in Sweden, at least I've never seen them. Interesting.
