What Photobucket - Video and Image Hostingis thankful for this week

> Last Friday was the culminating activity of our hospital's 30th anniversary and we had a fun night. The school's auditorium which could accommodate more than a 1000 guests was filled up. Decorations, sound system and food were all excellently prepared. I thank very much the organizing committee for everything.

> Also the same evening , the Chairman and CEO of the hospital handed to me the "Leadership Award". I was truly surprised because this is the first time an award of this kind was given in the 30 years of existence of the hospital. As I was reflecting later, I realized that my success as a leader is strengthened by changing old destructive behaviors and sustaining my positive moral nature. I tried very much through the years to incorporate positive thoughts and actions into my daily behavior. I began to achieve true happiness and content in my heart when I started to inventory my life, noting every attribute that I possess and every detrimental fault that I am aware of. I cleansed my soul of its past and put into action a plan for a new life. By acknowledging my weakness as well as my strengths, I was able to map out a strategy that brought me the serenity I have been serarching for. To all the hospital staff thank you for the support you have been extending to all my programs and projects.

It's the 8th Wedding Anniversary of my daughter and her hubby today. Since, I never had an experience in preparing for a wedding, I was very well assisted by my friends at work. Things which my daughter and her boyfriend then could not personally handle, we took care of and they were the reception venue (it was supposed to be a garden reception but there was an impending typhoon so a week before the wedding date, we had to look for an alternative place), the choir, the music (from the wedding march to the reception), the doves, the floral arrangements in the church and the reception hall and the money well (instead of gifts some guests preferred to give cash). Almost all of the guests they invited came so it was one memorable occasion.

Now on their 8th year, the marriage is blessed with two beautiful children and flourishing careers. I can see that this blending of lives is a strong one because their personal relationship with God has become the cornerstone of their marriage...they have invited Him to "walk out front" before them.

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
and May God continue to write
His love story through you!

Theme For The Week: LOST

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

This tree LOST all its beauty after all its leaves fell off during the
recent typhoon that hit our country. There are around 5 of them in this street
and I used to admire it every morning on my way to work because I can see
a lot of birds on its branches and at the same time, it added to the beauty of
the surroundings. I am now not sure if all 5 of them will ever recover from the
damage of the typhoon.

When we are not busy studying, going on ward duty in the hospital as student nurses and when we don't have dates, my best friends and I spend time with each other. This photo below was taken in our dormitory room. Aside from sharing stories of our experiences in the hospital, we fill up our free time playing gameboards and cards, singing, watching movies (in moviehouses because at that time we didn't have DVDs) or going shopping. Now 30 plus years later, we try to see each other whenever they are in town. They were just simple things we did but they are truly treasured by each one of us.

Viamarie is thankful

...that the family is back home after 5 days of stay in the hospital. We could have gone home after 3 days but because of power blackout in the entire Luzon province due to a typhoon, we were forced to stay longer. It was early morning of Wednesday-Sept 28, 2006 while my daughter was undergoing a C-section, we were experiencing strong rains and winds due to a typhoon named MILENYO, strongest to hit Manila in 11 years. The typhoon was expected to arrive that afternoon. At 7:00 AM after my daughter was wheeled back to her room, hubby and I decided to leave for home to freshen up and to get some things that she, her husband and baby will be needing while in the hospital. Wow, the streets on our way home looked like a war zone with fallen trees, poles and rising floodwaters. As we reached home, there were a lot of leaves and plants scattered in our front yard. During this time the electricity had already been cut. Shortly after 10 AM, the winds became stronger so we decided to go back to the hospital. At 2 PM, the eye of the typhoon directly hit us and for more than an hour there was so much rain and winds causing many objects from roofing materials, wood materials , etc to fly in all directions causing a lot of damage to buildings and homes all over our place. Since the hospital had its own generator, we had power but NO INTERNET. NO TV. We then decided to remain holed up in our hospital room for the next days enjoying the company of each other and our new bundle of joy. We left our house in the care of our two maids and my mom. They were without electricity but we were lucky to have been able to fill up our water tank so they had water while the rest of the neighbors didn't. Although there was no power, we still had a gas range that would enable them to cook for a candle-lit dinner and my mom still had her good old reliable radio which became their only source of information and link to the outside world. Now, after a week, there are still many areas without power and reports have shown that this typhoon claimed many lives and have caused damage to millions of pesos worth of crops and infrastructures but I am still very grateful to God for the safety of our family, a strongly built home, ample food, fuel and water.
