THEME FOR THE WEEK: BROKEN

For almost 12 years, hubby and I had been members of our city's tenpin bowling association. Three times a week we would join tournaments and we would always qualify for the monthly finals for the associate and masters divisions. For 3 consecutive years, hubby and I started breaking our average score of 200 and 180 respectively thus making us unbeatable champions Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting. We were having a lot of fun representing our city in many out of town competitions. The photo below which was taken in 1994 shows some of our trophies. These are our souvenirs of the many records we have BROKEN. It's sad Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting that in 1995, I developed carpal tunnel syndrome while hubby injured his left knee which made both of us stop playing. Nowadays, we are just spectators in bowling competitions and our hearts are BROKEN Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting everytime we see our colleagues still playing.

Maybe there is another sport you can both enjoy, maybe billiards. You still have all those wonderful memories.

That's too bad your winning/playing streak had to be broken by CTS! At least you have all those trophies to show for it :) Happy Hunting!

Wow, look at all those trophies! I love bowling, but am really bad at it. lol My husband had to give up some of his hobbies too (racquetball, tae kwon do, etc) when he injured his back.

Thanks for visiting my blog. :) Happy Saturday!

I know how you feel about not being able to bowl anymore. I never broke any records or won any awards but I enjoyed it until my back gave out on me.

At least your happy memories aren't broken!

A clever take on the theme :)
You could look at the situation positively: Now it's possible for other's to win, too - without you ever having lost :D
    Thanks for stopping by!

    Hi,
this is a creative entry to the theme Broken. Broken records and Hearts.
Hope you both still enjoy to watch the games and have fun with old competitors and friends.

I bet it is very hard to sit and watch something you love so much. You do have wonderful memories and it is so nice you were able to share them with the hubby.

    Great photo for today's theme.

    Take care,
    Connie

Aww, I can see why your hearts are broken - giving up something you love that brought so much fun and love. You two should become coaches for others taking up the sport!

Not sure if I could even lift my bowling ball these days but I used to love it. I was never very good but I didn't care - we had fun.

Wow, what a wonderful accomplishment. So sad to have had to give it up. Hopefully you have found some new hobbies to help fill the void.
